PALMYRA TOWNSHIP – WAYNE COUNTY January 2, 2023

Chairman Steffen called the board of supervisors meeting to order at 6 :30 PM. Roll call showed all supervisors were present. Supervisor Hanf made a motion to accept the pre vious month’s minutes with a second by Supervisor Kmetz and all supervisors voting yes.

Treasurer’s Report was given by Lois Powderly and is on file as well as posted on the back wall. Chairman Steffen made a motion to accept the treasurers report with a second by Supervisor Kmetz and all supervisors voting yes.

A discussion was held on year end donations. A total of $19,000 is to be distributed to the emergency management agencies. A motion was made by Chairman Steffen for the distribution of year end donations in the total of $19,000 with a second by Supervisor Hanf and all supervisors voting yes .
Hawley Police receive $5,000, Hawley Fire receive $5,000 and Lake Region Ambulance receive $5,000. White Mills Fire will be receiving $2,000 and White Mills Ambulance also $2,000.

Bill List number 1 was presented with the yearend donations added to the list . Chairman Steffen made a motion to pay bill list with a second by Supervisor Kmetz and all supervisors voting yes.

Police Report was given by Officer Bertholf and is on file.

Fire Report was given by Scott Mead and is on file .

Ambulance Report was given by Ms. McDougall and is on file.

Road Report was given by Road Master Kmetz and is on file. Chairman Steffen asked we collect the pole number from the pole opposite Rocky Run Road on Long Ridge Road as there is a streetlight out.

Correspondence The Township received its normal newsletters, pamphlets, brochures, and magazines .

Zoning Report was given by Paul Natale.

Conditional Use Hearing none currently.

Planning Commission has nothing to report.

Report of Digitizing Records was given by Paul Natale.

Emergency Management has nothing to report from Mike Hanf.

Crime Watch has nothing to report.

Solicitor’s Report is to work on the verbiage for our short-term rental advertisement our zoning map advertisement.

Public Comment Lou Gruber presented suggestions for the short-term rental ordinance as he is unable to attend next month’s meeting. These suggestions were read aloud and then sent to Chairman Steffen for review and consideration.

Board of Supervisors for the year 2022 was dissolved at 6:45 PM.

Reorganizational Meeting for 2023 first order of business was the nomination and vote for the title of Chairman whose primary function is to run business meetings for the township. A motion was made by Supervisor Hanf to appoint Pete Steffen as Chairman for the year 2023 with a second by Supervisor Kmetz, and all supervisors voting yes .

Supervisor Kmetz made a motion to give raises to Lois Powderly from $18.00 to $19.00 an hour , Shayla Gouger from $12.00 to $13.00 an hour , and John Flanagan from $15.00 to $16.00 an hour, with a second by Supervisor Hanf and all supervisors voting yes .

All township committee reorganizational meeting will take place this week into next.

All township meetings will be the first Monday of each month at 6:30 PM except for September when the meeting will be held on Tuesday the 5th at 6:30 PM due to the holiday.

Chairman Steffen made a motion to adjourn at 6:50 PM w ith a second by Supervisor Hanf and all Supervisors voting yes.

Short-term rental hearing will be Monday February 6, 2023, at 5:45 PM.

Next scheduled meeting is Monday February 6 , 2023 , at 6:30 PM.
